ACC’s Facial Rejuvenation

Cosmetic Acupuncture

Cosmetic acupuncture- also known as acupuncture facial rejuvenation or acupuncture facelift is a better solution than surgical facelifts. This new technique can enhance your physical appearance as well as your overall health. It gives you a glow that radiates from deep within.

Cosmetic acupuncture seems like a relatively new phenomenon, however, there are actually centuries-old records of this technique being used to enhance the beauty of the skin. Acupuncture’s ability to improve a variety of skin conditions has now been well documented in literature and clinical studies.

Cosmetic acupuncture can take 5-10 years off your face. The benefits include:

  • Helps eliminate fine lines and soften deeper lines
  • Minimize dark circles, puffy eyes and drooping eyelids
  • Improves a double chin and sagging skin
  • Increases circulation, therefore oxygenates the skin
  • Increases collagen production
  • Tightens the pores, and brightens the eyes
  • Keeps acne skin under control
  • Nourishes the skin, giving you a healthy complexion with a natural glow
  • Moisturizes the skin from inside, and gives rosy cheeks to people with dull, tired looking skin

“It is not unusual for clients to report enhanced skin tone, increased energy and eyes that sparkle”

Why use Cosmetic Acupuncture

There is an increasing awareness of the perils of a toxic environment. People are paying more attention to the things they eat and the drugs they take. Your skin is one of the primary organs used to excrete toxins. The skin also has the ability to absorb. The traditional way to moisturize the skin utilizes petroleum based products that act as a barrier (plastic wrap) to keep moisture in. The problem is the toxins can’t get out. The skin needs to “breath”.

Botulism Toxin Type A (BOTOX) is an effective facial paralytic that shows real results for the reduction of wrinkles, however, it has no anti-aging effect. Currently the trend in med-spas is to use chemical peels which increase cellular turnover that actually ages the skin, Botox injections, and chemically altered vitamins like Retin A which increases the skin’s sensitivity to damage. There are even chemical treatments like hydroquinone for bleaching and translucency which require routine liver enzyme checks to assess the damage done internally. There is a better solution.

“A 1996 article in the International Journal of Clinical Acupuncture reported that among 300 cases treated with cosmetic acupuncture, 90% had marked effects with one course of treatment. The effects include: skin becomes delicate, improvement of elasticity of the facial muscles, ruddier complexion, and overall rejuvenation.”

What you can expect

The Acupuncture Chiropractic Center offers a unique 3 step process for facial rejuvenation that includes Cosmetic Acupuncture, Photo Modulation, and Micro Current Rejuvenation. A course of ten treatments is standard, with periodic follow-up visits as needed. These sessions are labor intensive and will be priced differently than customary acupuncture treatments. Sessions will last approximately 45-60 minutes. Not surprisingly, if you are a smoker or sun-worshipper, you will need to make a longer commitment in order to achieve results. This severe damage cannot be undone instantly. There may be a slight chance of minor temporary bruising. Cosmetic Acupuncture is intended to reduce or erase fine line and soften deeper ones. In addition, patients may experience the firming of skin at the jaw line and a reduction in bags under the eyes. It is not unusual for clients to report enhanced skin tone, increased energy and eyes that sparkle. If your features are tired, your eyes are baggy and your skin is without luster, yet you do not feel the need for cosmetic surgery, then facial acupuncture may be for you. The freedom from post-treatment downtime and the experience of enhanced vitality contribute to the ever-increasing popularity of this Asian art. If you are willing to try something different and new, you may find that facial acupuncture is the perfect partner in your quest for rejuvenation and renewal.

How our 3 step process works:

Cosmetic Acupuncture begins with extremely fine needles that activate an electrophysiological response, (“the current of injury”) that stimulates tissue repair. The ultra-fine needles do not cause cell damage but elicits the repair mechanism in younger cells. Micro-derm abrasion takes advantages of the same process with the exception of cellular turnover. The abrasive technique – cellular turnover – actually causes cellular aging.

Photo Modulation is a relatively new procedure. This process is not new to plant physiology but is just now being applied to the cells of people. Photo Modulation, sometimes called photo rejuvenation, refers to the ability of cells to use photons (light energy) for accelerated and improved cellular function. In the case of Cosmetic Acupuncture, collagen is manufactured in fibroblasts and cytoplasm of the skin cells. Many spas use the same technique with a device called “Lumilift”. Med-spas are charging anywhere from $100-150 per session for this service.

Micro Current Rejuvenation is the process by which the skin cells become reactive to certain frequencies of small electrical current. The current is what causes the fibroblasts to turn over and produce more collagen and elastic tissue. Micro Current causes a process called Ionophoresis which will “force” a concentrated anti-aging botanical serum into deep layers of the skin. Micro Current has been proven effective for “face lifts” without surgery for many years.
