What is ART?

Active Release Technique is a patented non-invasive, soft tissue treatment process that both locates and breaks down the scar tissue and adhesions which cause pain, stiffness, weakness, numbness, and physical dysfunctions associated with muscle injuries. ART finds the tissue that is injured and physically works it back to its normal texture, tension, and length using various hand positions and soft tissue manipulation methods.

While breaking up the adhesions can be uncomfortable at times, it is important to reproduce the symptoms during the treatment to ensure that the correct soft tissue structures are being addressed. The technique consists of around 450 specific muscle and nerve entrapment protocols. The technique focuses on working specific parts of the muscle were adhesion or scar tissue is felt.

History of Active Release Technique.

The Active Release technique was developed by a chiropractor about twelve years ago. The technique was first mainly developed to help treat carpal tunnel syndrome and the structures involved in carpal tunnel. The founder of the technique had such tremendous results with the newly developed technique in the treatment of carpal tunnel that he went on to prefect it to encompass treatment to the whole musculosketetal system.
